1999 honda CBR600 this a good buy??? help please?

Hi, well i seen a honda cbr600 for sale in my area and this is what the guy said, its a long story but i want to know what could be wrong with it and how much to fix it. Thanks.

%26quot;Hi, my name is N*** and I'm selling my 99 CBR. I'm just gonna get right to the point. My mom lost her job last week, We've used virtually all of my savings for tuition, I've already taken out a school loan to pay for other expenses around the house, and I need to sell this bike for another quarter of tuition at CSUEB. The bike runs fine. You'll need to change the rotors eventually because its like 10 years old already but it still brakes on a dime. 2nd gear pops out when you go past 4k upshifting. If you downshift to 2nd past 4K, it still stays in. NO other gear has this problem, and it runs great if you can shift before 4k in 2nd gear. Could be tranny problem. I'm the third owner and the previous owner said the first owner replaced the chain and the clutch and it started doing that, SO I really don't know cause I don't know much about bikes. I got it back in September of 2008. Registration is due this month as well. I can handle that, or you can if you buy the bike because you have to transfer the title anyways. Bike has about 28,000 I think, I haven't checked it lately cause of the rain. Its great for noobs who just got their M1 license, because it was great for me to learn. Never laid down or dropped by me. I know it's not exactly the greatest bike out there, but I am extremely desperate to continue school, and I apologize for sounding so desperate but this is one of my last options. I'm asking for 1800 OBO. Tuition at CSUEB is about 1300 a quarter, plus the cost of books is another couple hundred. If you can help me out, I would much appreciate it. I also have a HJC solid black helmet in a XL that's never been dropped. Let me know if you're interested. Also I apologize for the sucky pictures.%26quot;

Thanks you1999 honda CBR600 this a good buy??? help please?
Personally i would not touch it with a barge poll. There is no definate history of wether it has been droped. if the fist owner needed to replace the cluth he was riding it hard and thus you have the gear problems. Look for something better even if it costs more. it could cost you a brand new bike in the end or more in parts and aggrivation.1999 honda CBR600 this a good buy??? help please?
Avoid. If the gearbox is on the way out then there'll be bits of metal flying around the engine. Alternatively if you can get a cheap replacement engine from a breakers yard then it might be worth getting.1999 honda CBR600 this a good buy??? help please?
I agree with the other people here. I would avoid that bike. The cost of repairs will end up being more than if you bought a non-broken bike in the first place. I just saw a nice older GSX-R600 on our local craigslist in really good condition for $2,300. Just based on the written description, the slighly more expensive gixxer would be the better deal. I would just keep looking.1999 honda CBR600 this a good buy??? help please?
yeah sorry man your asking alittle to much. people would love to help you but at the end of the day they are worried about their self. the tranny problem sucks. it is common in those bikes
