The concept of using AC Drive with Slip ring motor?

I would like to know the basic working of a AC Drive on Slip Ring Motor, as we have on Wound Rotor, we change Frequency and speed is controlled. What happens for Slip Ring, how the speed is varied, if resistance of motor is not changed. The concept of using AC Drive with Slip ring motor?
if you are talking about using a VFD on a slip ring motor instead of your resistor bank and speed contactors, you would have to jumper the windings on the rotor together NOT throught the brushes but rather on the rotor winding it's self. This isn't the best practice because the motors insulation classification is probably not up to standards for VFD's . in the long run you would be better off getting a Drive rated motor

As for vfd's they convert the incoming 3 phase A.C. to D.C. then thru pulse width modulation they change the dc cycle then it gets changed back to an A.C, voltage for output. the speeds can be controled via 0-10 volt pot, 4 to 20 ma signal or by presets programmed into the drive 000, 001, 010,

this is just a quick answer for a better understanding talk to a manufacture repThe concept of using AC Drive with Slip ring motor?
It is fairly common on crane upgrades etc to short out the rings on a wound rotor motor and control it from a variable frequency drive. The wound rotor motor speed is controlled by frequency just the same as an induction motor.

As mentioned, make sure the motor has a recent re-wind for use on vfd (class F minimum)

I maintain my truck really well. I get regular oil changes, brake pad and rotor changes and even got a really major oil leak fixed. Is it completely unrealistic to think my 02 truck can last me another 10 years? Also how do they do on long distances? In about a year I'm moving from indianapolis to atlantaChevy s10 owners only please!?
Ive had my S-10 for 11 years now and its still running fine.. I just got rid of one (from living in the rust belt) that had 182k miles on it and it ran fine but the body rusted out on it (mainly the bed and the cross members on the bed).. a trip from indianapolis to atlanta is a long ways, but ive taken mine from Erie, PA, out to Helena, Montana with moderate stops to eat and use the bathroom.Chevy s10 owners only please!?
I know a person that has 1000,000,000 miles on a chevy pick-up yes if maintaned properly it can last a long time

Question about break rotors and pads!?

Could you please explain in details the difference between regular break rotors and slotted drilled rotors. Also could you please explain the difference between semi-metallic and ceramic break pads. How do you know that you should change your rotors (any signs that will indicate that the rotors need to be changed?).

Please serious and respectful answers only. Don't answers if you don't have the appropriate knowledge, no stupid jokes, no nonsense. I have some questions that I need help with so only answer if you can help. Thanks in advance!Question about break rotors and pads!?
Slotted or drilled rotors reduce heat.

Ceramic pads last longer and don't build up the black dust like semi-metallic.

Rotors need to be changed if they are worn badly, or if they cause vibration when the BRAKES (not breaks) are applied.Question about break rotors and pads!?
slotted rotors stay cooler as do the ceramic pad also the the ceramic pads anr quiter as for changing if the rotor has grooves in it then changer them and for pads when they are an 1/8 inchQuestion about break rotors and pads!?
    what he said.

you'll only notice the difference if you're racing or driving an some other kind of extreme condition.

As for changing your rotors, you'll only need to do this if you're upgrading or you notice a shudder in the car when you brake. This indicates that the rotors are warped.

If they have groves in them you can just get them machined. cheaper.Question about break rotors and pads!?
Slotted rotors are better than stock rotors...... IF you have a need for them. Slotted rotors vent the gas build up and dust from the brake pads, and are a little more resistant to brake fade. If you race the car or have a specific need for a heavy duty brake system, slotted rotors could be good for you. Ceramic pads are more resistant to the effects of heat, and seem to last longer and not wear down quickly. Rotors should be changed when they no longer meet the minimum thickness requirement, or if they are scored deeply, which would require them to be turned down beyond the minimum thickness. Rotors today don't have a lot of extra thickness. You might get away with turning them once, but then they are more likely to warp when they get real hot, due to the rotor being much thinner.Question about break rotors and pads!?
slotted cool faster which help save the pads life and it does aid in help stoping better and faster in doing so and ceramic is harder and last longer also withstanding a higher temp...

has for knowing when to change the rotors you will need to know the safety spec's but guessing it like five sets of pads more or less depending on how it was drove and if the brake were changed before they did any grinding.... that would vary between cars but easy way to say it would be how thick it was when new and how thick it is when bad and i couldnt give you a number not having a book to look it up in here is some brake info it might help some

Ford aerostar no fire to plugs.?

1988 Ford Aerostar gets 11v from coil but no spark from plugs. Getting gas to engine. Changed distribuitor, rotor, tried a different plug. It happened suddenly one day it was running good then the check engine light came on as it cut off. I tried it a few times with no luck. Sat for 10 minutes tried it again - it ran all the way home. The next morning I tried it again and it just cranks won't turn over since. Rotor spins; serpentine belt turns; there are no points on this model year. Did not change the condensor or wires however using a digital volt meter I could tell there was current present. 11.4v at the battery. It ran good no smoke or backfiring. (I thought about the timing) Some other threads suggested it might be the relay but I can't see how that can be.. Can any one Help?Ford aerostar no fire to plugs.?
Have you tried the ignition switch? This could do what you are speaking of. There are alot of wires that engage alot of items on your van thru this switch. Good luckFord aerostar no fire to plugs.?
To me it sound like a loose connector some were in the ignition system. I would check all of your connectors, fuses and relays for oil dirt oil or corrosion. I had this same problem with my old Toyota and it turned out to be just a corroded fuses that goes to the coil. the car would do every thing you mentioned. by the way Toyota sucks the worst car ever Japanese cars :(. American cars :). any one who disagrees is ant American and obviously knows nothing about cars. Support American cars they are built by hard working people who are dedicated to building quality cars.Ford aerostar no fire to plugs.?
Did a battery light come on? Battery should be around 12v. Could be your ign module or camshaft sensor.

How much does it cost to change your brake pads and rotors?

I just went for my NY inspection. They wanted to charge me $ 600.00 to change my brake and rotors. I drive a 2003 ford explorer. Does that seem about right? How much does it cost to change your brake pads and rotors?
Who's %26quot;they%26quot;? According to fordparts.com, front brake pads for your 2003 Explorer cost $97.49US (part number 4L2Z-2001-BA), and front brake rotors cost $89.67US each (part number 4L2Z-1125-AA). So, if we do the math here, that's $276.83US in parts alone. Since you mention NY, I'm assuming that labour rates in that area go for around $100.00US per hour. Typically, most dealers pay their techs 1.5 hours to replace front brake pads and brake rotors. That means at $150.00US plus $276.83US works out to about $426.83US plus taxes. That doesn't sound too far off from the $600 you were quoted if you add the taxes in. Hope this helps. How much does it cost to change your brake pads and rotors?
Wow umm rotors(sport ones) are about$250 for a 2003 Ford Explorer. And pads are about $85. that is an insane amount to charge for that simple of a job. i would buy the parts and find a friend that is somwhat mechicaly talanted. its so easy. im 16 and i can do it.How much does it cost to change your brake pads and rotors?
I think that's right...because i believe you have 4 rotors! rear and front. I just paid $320 to change my rotors and that was all just on parts and i only have 2 rotors. So i believe that's around the price. Look up the price of your rotors %26amp; Brake pads like on autozone.com and add the price for the repair which is like $50 something dollers per hr. which should only be an hr maybe 1 1/2 hours tops! How much does it cost to change your brake pads and rotors?
you can do it your self three or four times for that price ... front pads 25 bucks rear about the same rotors vary.. call any auto parts store and get a price for parts and you wil see.. most of the time a brake job just for pads start about 100 bucks which is high knowing what i know i do it all my self maybe a couple hundred but it sounds high .. call a few places ..... ask how much to replace it alll pads and rotors front and back....which hardy ever needed now if you dont need rotors which most of the time you dont unless you have wore them out or they been grinding.. you can look the price up autozone.comHow much does it cost to change your brake pads and rotors?
Rip off! If you can find someone to do the brakes and rotors for you do it. auto zone has the best price for those type of parts. Only paid $130.00 for brakes and rotors there and $80.00 for labor for the person to do it.

i try changing the rotors on my Honda..and took the brake frame out and everything...but i noticed that the rotors are screwed in...never seen this before..because usually you can just pull em out..also the +shape screws are rusted and hard to get out...can any0ne help? thanksHow to remove the rotors from a honda 2000 civic?
    Those sonofas are horribly annoying...

When I was trying to get that kind of rotor off I managed to get on it with a Ryobi cordless drill with the screwdriver tip on it, for the screws..

If it's how I think it is, you might be in a world of hurt...

    http://www.thepartsbin.com/images/perfth

If they are regular rotors like that they should just slide off, maybe a small bit of persuasion...

but if they are the kind where the studs don't go through the holes, then you'd need to remove the axel nut, probably use a slide hammer... loads of crap which is why I gave up on the front rotors for

    my dad's accord...
